Outstanding Technical Education Students Honored

The Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) recognizes outstanding technical education students in Georgia. Now in its 37th year, the GOAL programs at Chattahoochee Technical College and North Metro Technical College have been able to recognize and award scholarships to their top students each year with the assistance of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.
This year, eight outstanding technical students were chosen for a series of interviews that would lead one student from each school to the Georgia Consortium competition. If chosen to compete further, one or both students would advance to compete at the state level.
At the April First Monday Breakfast, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce honored these students from Chattahoochee Technical College and North Metro Technical College for their academic and personal achievement in the GOAL program and presented them with scholarships.
Congratulations to the 2009 GOAL winners, Joyce Maldonado of Chattachoochee Technical College and Cheri Prescott of North Metro Technical College. A special thank you to our sponsors: BB&T, Caraustar, Cobb EMC, Dr. Daniel Brown, Georgian Bank, Georgia Power Company, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, NorthWest Bank & Trust, Shaw Industries, Six Flags Over Georgia and Tyre Rakestraw, Jr.- Paulding County Board of Education.
