Letter from the President

Dear Leadership Cobb Alumni Members,

Thank you to everyone who attended the LCAA September Breakfast at the Georgian Club. The event, which was sponsored by InfoMart, was a huge success! Thank you to Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews of First United Methodist in Marietta for speaking at this event. His words on personal and professional leadership were inspiring.

We hope you will join us for the November 2011 LCAA Breakfast. Come mix, mingle and network with your fellow alumni as we hear from Jerry Nix, the Vice Chairman, Chief Financial Officer, Principal Accounting Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance for Genuine Parts Company. This program, held at the Mansour Center, is sponsored by Hardin Construction. Click here to register.

I’d like to thank all of you for your continued support of the Leadership Cobb Alumni Association.  Your dedication to this organization is helping to make a difference in our community, and I commend you for your efforts. I look forward to working with you all for the rest of my term as we "Serve with Passion."

Sincerely,

Ginny Rainey (’01)
LCAA President, 2011

Leadership Cobb Class of 2012
"Serving with Passion"

Leadership Cobb is off to a great start this year. The new class has already experienced their Orientation, Fall Retreat, Public Safety Day, Myers Briggs Evening and Social Services Day. Our goal for the year is to expose this exceptional group of community leaders to the current issues, vast resources and increasing needs of the county, while emphasizing the value of the friendships and connections formed among classmates and Leadership Cobb alumni. Each program will emphasize the importance of taking on the role of the "servant leader” in both personal and professional contexts. With excellent program chairs, committees and an exciting new class, this is sure to be an amazing year!

Cobb Youth Leadership Class of 2012
"Courage to Lead"

The new 2011-2012 Cobb Youth Leadership class held their orientation on Aug. 15 at the Mansour Center. Students and their parents gathered together to mix and mingle, while receiving introductory information about the program. The students were assigned to one of the following community involvement groups: The Boys and Girls Club, The Center for Family Resources, MUST Ministries, Reconnecting Families and the YWCA. Thank you to our host non-profits for working with this exceptional group of students!

The class had their Fall Retreat Sept. 16-18 at WinShape Wilderness in Rome, Ga. The students worked on team-building activities and leadership skills with a high and low ropes course and a GPS scavenger hunt. Thank you to LC alum, Barbara Hickey (’07), for speaking to the class on the importance of etiquette. We look forward to the rest of the year with our outstanding class and Steering Committee!
