Principal for a Day 2011

   Over 80 business and community leaders gathered at local schools to participate in the 10th Annual Principal for a Day (PFAD) program. The program was held in Marietta City Schools on February 9, 2011 and in Cobb County Schools on February 16, 2011.

    This half-day program gave the principals for a day an opportunity to shadow a Cobb County or Marietta City public school principal and see firsthand the strengths and challenges of our educational system. The correspondence between the principal and the PFAD's also provides a chance to begin a partnership between the business and the school.

   “After participating as Principal for a Day at Campbell High School, one observation I would share with the Cobb County business community is that the schools cannot do it alone," said State of Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens. "They need our help.”

   Many needs can be identified, and a way for them to be met is also established through this program. Some additional activities that took place during this year’s PFAD program included a tour of the school, making the morning announcements, meeting with students and even a trip to the Cobb Chamber South Cobb area council. PFAD 2011 was a great way for Cobb’s business and community leaders to collaborate and experience a day in the life of a principal.
