Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the “Teacher for a Day” program?
You will have the opportunity to shadow a Cobb County or Marietta City public school Teacher of the Year for a full day and observe the challenges and strengths of our educational systems. The program will help the community better understand our schools and empower them to support the educational process in Cobb County.
What is the time commitment that day?
Participants will report to their assigned school before the first “bell” and stay until the last “bell”. Once assignments are made, your host teacher will contact you to arrange a specific schedule.
What happens on that day?
Your host teacher will prepare a lesson plan for the day of the program that you will receive in advance. On the day of the program you will shadow your host teacher and assist students in learning. You will also be able to participate in activities such as overseeing recess, hall and cafeteria duty.
How will I be matched with a school?
You have the opportunity to indicate your top choices of school matches on this application. Although we try to accommodate specific requests, keep in mind that your selections may not necessarily lead to a match with schools you have requested. If you do not have a preference or if the schools of your choice are not available, your geographic proximity will be taken into consideration when selecting a school.
