Cobb County has a superior road network connecting people and places. Its access and proximity fuel the county’s continued growth, attracting more people and jobs every day.

Although welcome, Cobb’s growth presents challenges that must be addressed. Challenges that affect businesses and the community. Congestion not only slows down traffic but productivity too. It frustrates employees, hinders recruitment and retention, pollutes the air and threatens government intervention.

Companies benefit when proactive steps are taken to deal with transportation challenges.  The Cobb Chamber’s Transportation Department offers members a range of valuable services to tackle transportation issues concerning businesses and the community.  These services free up limited parking spaces, improve employee morale, expand recruitment opportunities, clean up the air, reduce traffic congestion and more.

Services include:

  • Customized Assistance
Develop a simple carpool program, improve bus service or design a "smart growth" facility. A Chamber representative will work with your company to identify and implement the optimal assistance to best meet your company’s specific accessibility needs.
  • Carpool and Vanpool Ride Matching
Help employees find rideshare partners to share the commute. Carpools and vanpools free up valuable parking, reduce traffic congestion and relieve stress. A win-win solution for everyone!

The Cobb Chamber arranges free taxi rides home for pre-registered commuters in case of emergency situations or unscheduled overtime. Now there’s no worry about being ‘stuck’ at work!
  • Promotional Assistance
Promote the use of carpools, vanpools, transit and other transportation alternatives to employees. Cobb Chamber representatives are available for staff meetings, orientations and other speaking engagements. Or, host a fun, creative event like a Transportation Fair and invite CCT and other transportation resources on-site to answer staff questions.
  • Seminars
Learn how to develop a telework program or how to make better use of your parking facility. Informative seminars include Parking Management, Facility Design, Flex-Time Arrangements, Teleworking and more.
  • Information and Resources
Learn about other useful resources available to your company, including IRS codes which provide tax breaks to companies, local ‘Smog Alerts’ which warn of hazardous conditions, road projects which affect your site and more.

Key Community Transportation Partnerships

The Transportation Department is actively involved in the success of key community initiatives:

  • Community Improvement Districts (CIDs)
Cobb’s two Community Improvement Districts are at the forefront of transportation planning in the county’s largest office markets: Cumberland and Town Center.  The CIDs levy an additional tax on commercial properties which accelerates necessary road and public transportation projects. These successful public-private partnerships add value to the office markets and benefit the communities. The Transportation Department administers the operations of the Cumberland CID including Commuter Club and Blueprint Cumberland.
  • Transportation Management Associations (TMAs)
Funded by their local CIDs, Commuter Club (Cumberland/Galleria) and CobbRides (Town Center) educate businesses and employees on various transportation alternatives to reduce traffic congestion in their office markets. These two award-winning TMAs create carpools, improve bus service, develop telework programs and other effective strategies that improve transportation conditions for businesses. The Transportation Department staffs Commuter Club and provides advisory assistance to CobbRides.
