Fire and Police Protection
A 911 call from anywhere in the county results in centralized dispatch of the most appropriate emergency service provider from fire, police and ambulance services. Cobb County has enhanced 911 services with a computer-aided dispatch system.
Fire protection is provided by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services and the cities of Austell, Marietta and Smyrna, employing more than 800 firefighters to protect Cobb County’s citizens. Cobb County is equipped with a hazardous materials team, trench rescue, high-rise rescue, bomb squad and a fire prevention bureau.
The Cobb County Police Department has precincts geographically distributed throughout the county. The county’s six municipalities each have independent police departments serving their respective jurisdictions.
