Cobb County has the lowest property tax rate in the metro Atlanta area. The tax rate has not increased in 11 years. Property taxes fund the operations of the county as well as the school systems. Property taxes are calculated in terms of millage, or the dollars of tax to be paid for each $1,000 of the property's assessed value (40 percent of fair market value in Cobb).
