Give Our Schools a Hand
Originated in 1988, the purpose of GOSH is not only to show appreciation for teachers in the community, but also to encourage area businesses, parents, and civic groups to take an active role in enhancing the quality of education. Held annually, GOSH is a celebration that honors more than 130 Teachers of the Year from Cobb County, Marietta City and post-secondary education systems. This salute to public education is one of the largest in the nation.

Handprint Unveiling Ceremony: The Show Must Go On!
The Earl Smith Strand Theatre, graciously hosted the Handprint Ceremony on October 7 as rain threatened to postpone the event. Students, educators, government leaders, family, friends, and the business community attended in support of Cobb County Teacher of the Year Kelly Bramblett and Marietta City Teacher of the Year Marie Sherbondy, the two district-wide winners. Performers from both
school districts performed lively, inspiring musical numbers to show appreciation for these very special teachers.
Once the rain subsided, the audience moved to the Marietta Square, anxiously awaiting two new handprints of the Teachers of the Year to be unveiled at the Marietta Square Teacher Walk of Honor.
A special thank you to the Marietta High School Blue Devils Show Choir and Harrison High School’s Alia Christian for their performances.
Congratulations to our 2009-2010 Cobb County and Marietta City School Districts Teacher of the Year:
Celebration Breakfast & Pep Rally
On October 27 Cobb’s 2009-2010 Teachers of the Year were greeted by McEachern High School’s marching band as they arrived at Roswell Street Baptist Church and were serenaded by Kell’s orchestra as they entered the banquet hall for the celebration breakfast being held in their honor.
At the Pep Rally, cheerleaders, band and chorus performers from several schools throughout the county led teachers into the sanctuary where their audience awaited. Hundreds of excited students, family and friends, government and business leaders, and school administrators proudly applauded each and every teacher as they made their way to their seats and later onto the stage to accept plaques and take pictures with their superintendents.
A special thank you to the performers from the following schools: Dowell Elementary School, Kell High School, Marietta High School, McEachern High School, Pebblebrook High School and Hightower Middle School.
Congratulations to all of the Teachers of the Year.
